Inspired by a typo, “Baker’s Dozen Blues” takes the classic 12-bar blues format and makes it a measure longer. Just like a baker’s dozen makes for 13 delicious snacks, the “Baker’s Dozen Blues” places an extra measure to make the blues even more fun! The extra bar is placed at various spots within the melody, so listen hard and see if you can find it! This composition is a flex arrangement, ideal for any ensemble. This piece is a great way to ease your students into learning swung rhythms.
